When Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki became an item in 2011, they were fast to create their own nickname, and just like TomKat, JedWard and BranJelina, they have been in the limelight simply because they are famous and together. Now, to some of us the interest in Wozzilroy is incomprehensible while others look at them as a great source of entertainment. They make golf and tennis come together in a very flirty way. In all fairness, it is not as if they are shying away from the attention, and the nickname Wozzilroy was branded by Rory McIIroy when he made the inscription on a golf club that he gave to his new dame Caroline Wozniacki.
This is how Wozzilroy came to the attention of the greater public. While it was already well known that the tennis start and the golf pro had found each other no one had yet thought of giving them a brand name much like the Hollywood pet peeve couples. Caroline Wozniacki published a picture of her new gold club on Twitter and there everyone could see that Rory had made the inscription of Wozzilroy which obviously is a combination of their surnames.
Can’t buy me love…
They say that “you can’t buy me love” but the romance of Wozzilroy certainly has a great branding power. Their love is something that people care about and this is one thing that the young couple seems to be well aware of. Not that they are in pressing need for money. Both Rory Mcllroy and Caroline Wozniacki have had enough success to earn big figures. Their union includes 2 important sports where big money is available for the big names. Combine this with their youth and star status, and you have the perfect mix for successful marketing.
Spurring each other on
Wozzilroy is also a team when it comes to their individual sports. It is true that Wozniacki stays on the tennis court while Mcllroy continues on the green, but between and during each event they are there to spur each other on for new winnings and titles. This is what fascinates a large audience, and one can only wonder what will happen if one part of Wozzilroy will become a complete failure.
Will their love be able to endure a loser partner, or can Wozzilroy only stand strong as long as events are won? Some refer to how Mcllroy dumped his previous girlfriend in a rather blunt way, and how he binned his previous manager for Horizon Sports Management in Dublin. The couple is young and set on success so only time will tell if the love is glue enough for them to stick together through rain and shine, or if we will witness new constellations of surnames depending on upcoming victories and losses.

One thing is for sure, the media loves Wozzilroy, and Wozzilroy are happy to comply. Ever since their first meeting during a boxing match in Germany they have been throwing funny and flirty blows over Twitter for the media and public to participate in the Wozzilroy Story. They both feel that their careers are benefitting from their relationship by the support that they give each other during important games.
