We celebrate the love of two outstanding athletes

Caroline Wozniacki

Danish tennis pro Caroline Wozniacki took her first breaths on the 11th of July 1990 in Odense, Denmark. Her parents, football player Piotr and volleyball player Anna Wozniacki, immigrated to Denmark when Piotr was selected to the Danish football team Boldklubben 1909. Caroline has an older brother, Patrik, who, just like his father, is a professional football player, playing for Danish team Hvidovre IF.

Caroline fell in love with tennis from the first time she held a tennis racqet at age seven. Coming from a family of sports enthusiasts she was always encouraged to stay active. In the beginning she played with her dad and older brother Patrik, but when they told her she wasn’t fun playing against since she wasn’t as good as them, she got furious and started training by herself. Her brother was the first one to be beaten, followed by their dad and then all the other kids at the club and so on.

At age 15 Caroline won the Junior Wimbledon having daddy as coach and mommy as keen supporter at all times. Caroline admits she is a bad looser and believes it comes with being a pro, saying something like if you don’t have the winning instinct you wouldn’t push yourself hard enough to reach the top.

After the Junior Wimbledon win the wins just kept coming and at one point she became the no. 1 ranked tennis player in the world for 67 consecutive weeks. That’s a first for any Scandinavian tennis player.

Caroline Wozniacki met Rory McIlroy in 2011 and the two fell in love and have been dating since. They have become a big focus of attention in the world of sports entertainment and it was her boyfriend Rory who was first to come up with their joint name of Wozzilroy. How romantic!
